James Wood I met Mr. Brötzmann along with Han Bennink in NYC on the lower East Side. While waiting for the venue to open Han had pulled up in a Volkswagen stuffed with drums. Han immediately came up to me placing his nose on the top of my head while asking if I had more of that referring to the smell of marijuana. Of course I had plenty and offered it in return for allowing me to both record and photograph the event to which Brötzmann had agreed.
