DIGITALLY REMASTERED. The fitting title refers to that moment in a missile launching when the operation must either be cancelled or allowed to continue towards completion. There's a sense of no turning back with these explosive saxophone duets, which veer between intense blowing, textural explorations, and a beautifully off-kilter lyricism.

REVIEWS

"It’s exciting music, thoughtfully programmed to ensure that the sound of two solo reeds doesn’t grow monotonous. At a few moments, like the weirdly beautiful 'Owls Hoot,' they find a unique lyrical tang. This refreshingly unslick sax music."- The Wire

"Recorded less than a month apart, 'Go-No-Go' seems influenced quite a bit by procedures Brötzmann has observed in action during the recording of 'Low Life,' a studio collaboration with Last Exit partner Bill Laswell. The tape-loop effects have infiltrated the sound, even though 'Go-No-Go' is a good old fashioned FMP documentary recording. On several of the Brötzmann compositions here, and particularly the splendid 'Les Gens Nu,' he has assigned to partner Harth repetitive pattern playing. On Harth’s piece 'Copper Sex,' Brötzmann manages to sound oddly like Laswell by - I imagine - tonguing the baritone’s reed to create a deep pulse." -Jazz Forum

"Brötzmann and Harth have chosen to blend their sensitivities. Hence, one is treated to a cross section of approaches moving from intense free playing (Hell/Heat/ Git/Bett), to romanticism (Weiss) to melodically-oriented explorations (Research/Sex/Felt/Owls/Roast), to textural examination (Studien)." - Cadence
