4 Stars - All Music Guide

"This recording is the most documented of all in the box set from the concerts. In the folio, there is an intense look at the harmonic setting that Cecil has produced for his workshop participants to perform, as well as an accompanying score notated by the oboist Daniel Werts. The ensemble’s performance of Legba Crossing makes for an interesting test of players’ abilities to adapt to a score that is only partly fleshed out, and requires that their interpretive skills be finely tuned. All in all, the finished piece represented here is very strong. A substantial performance." - CODA Magazine
